Teaching Ocean Science Workshop

Location: University of Maryland's Horn Point Laboratory in Cambridge, MD
COSEE Coastal Trends has developed curriculum for a semester-long high school ocean science course and offers a 4-day workshop for educators interested in teaching the course. The curriculum is structured to integrate the Ocean Literacy Essential Principles and strives to utilize engaging hands-on activities to support each lesson. The workshop will be led by Dr. Laura Murray from the University of Maryland’s Horn Point Laboratory, Dr. Beth Day-Miller, an experienced educator who helped design the curriculum, and other COSEE Coastal Trends staff.
Participants will:
- Participate in hands-on activities designed to teach ocean science in the classroom
- Collaborate with experienced scientists and educators
- Leave with a wealth of resources ready to be adapted to your classroom
