Day One:

Mini-Museum:  Describe your favorite exhibits at the museum. Would you like to be an exhibit designer in a museum?  Why or why not?  
 

Stranded!:  Looking at the webbing activity, If you could have any five items on the island, what would they be?
 

Voyage of the Frog:   Describe the differences between your picture and your fellow students' pictures.  Describe original feelings towards book.
 

Reading:  Can you relate to David in anyway? How? Do you think David is a brave person?  What do you think will happen on David's voyage?
 

Orienteering:   How often do you or your family use maps?  Was the mapping activity similar to the maps you use? Have you done any orienteering or used a compass?  Explain.  How is orienteering beneficial?
 

Reading:  Knowing the future events in the story, have you noticed any foreshadowing?
 

Mini-Museum:  Why is teamwork between members of your group important?
 

Reading:  How would you react if you were in David's shoes at this point?
 

Weather:  How does weather affect ships and boats in the ocean?
 

Morse Code:  Why did you choose the poem you did?  Do you think David could have benefited from morse code?
 

Reading: What do you like to do when you are alone?
 

Media: Which form of media did you like best?  Why?
 

Real Life Survivals: Are there any other real life survivals you know of that we did not discuss in class?
 

Reading:  Describe how you would feel if you were so close to being rescued like David.
 

Mini-museum: Describe some of your favorite aspects of each of the museum exhibits.
 

Reading:  Why do you think David was treating the whales as if they were humans?  Besides humans, what or who else do you talk to (such as a pet)?
 

Reading:  Have you ever been lost?  What did you do?  What was the result?
 

Reading: Would you have wanted to sail home alone like David is going to?
