1. Allow students to choose a topic of interest related to “Survival on the Sea” and research it in depth.

2. Work effectively in cooperative groups.

3. Enhance the quantity and quality of ideas.

4. Allow students to experience the ocean, even in areas not close to the coast.

All materials required for each part of the lesson will be given in the individual sections.

Time

Approximately 20 hours.  This will be spread out over a two-week time period.  (See individual parts for a breakdown of hours.)

Procedure

Preliminary preparations:  Explain to students that they will be working with their peers to construct a mini-museum display.  Once their displays are completed, parents and community members will have the opportunity to visit the museum.
