Reading of Voyage of the Frog and Journals

Goals

1. Read and understand the book Voyage of the Frog, by Gary Paulsen

2. Practice writing skills.

3. Reflect on the daily activities.

Materials

Voyage of the Frog, by Gary Paulsen
Pen
Journal Notebook

Time

Approximately 45 minutes a day for a total of 10.5 hours (on day one, the students will only write in their journals)

Procedure

1. Each day, except for day one, the students will be allowed 25 minutes to read their book The Voyage of the Frog.

2. After reading the book, or at the conclusion of the day, the students will write in their journal. The students
   will either be assigned a question or reflect on the day's activities.

Assessment

1. Students will turn in journal at the end of each week. If there are sufficient entries (one per day) and a quality
    reflection (was the question answered?), the student will receive full credit for his/her performance.

1. Provide a cover sheet for journals describing the contents for the week.
2. Write an essay stating what is in journals.
3. Self-evaluate journals.
4. Offer students other books written by Gary Paulsen, and have them compare and contrast the two books.
