Goals
1. Bring the community into the school.
Materials
Newspaper and magazine advertisements
Paper
Pens/pencils
Markers and Crayons
Glue
Time
Approximately 45 minutes
Procedure
1. Each team will look at examples of magazine and newspaper advertisements.
2. Each team will write a short, colorful description of their display.
3. Teams will create a picture (either drawn or a collage) that will
go along with the written description.
4. The teacher will collect all advertisements and create a flyer to
distribute throughout the community and school.
5. Either on and evening or weekend, the mini-museum will be open for
parents, students, and community members
to visit.
Assessment
1. Each team's written advertisement and picture. (Criteria for success:
Each advertisement is written with correct
grammatical formation and shows creativity. Each picture shows
creativity and fits with the written description.

1. Make a list of favorite advertisements and explain what about them
makes them a favorite.
2. Determine target audiences of different advertisements and determine
