The purpose of the website is to assist the scientific community in the discovery of, and linkage to earth science data. The information may be difficult to understand. There are great links which deal with global change, earth science, environmental data and other information. Teachers also have a link to other educational materials.

- Live from the Estuary

Visit the Masonboro Island, site of the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve, an uninhabited island with saltmarshes. Includes a trained naturalist as your guide. Plus, live Internet images, "beamed" directly from Masonboro Island, allow you to explore the wonders of this unique estuarine environment and ask questions of your naturalist guide. Also you can explore the estuary on video "Waters of Life," and you can learn how schools are using Estuary Live.
