Goals:
2.Ý Students will work effectively in groups to discover new information about coral reefs.
Time:
Procedure:
2. Students will be broken into groups of 4 or 5, and each group will be given a topic to look for at the museum or aquarium.
3.Ý As they look for their topic, students will sketch pictures, write down words that are unfamiliar to them , or discover new information that is unknown to the class that they would like to share.
4.Ý When the class returns, students will be given the opportunity to share their group's work.
Assessment:
2.Ý Students will be expected to give a short presentation on their findings. The presentations must include new information pertinent to the study of coral reefs (Criteria for success = at least 2 new facts regarding coral reefs and all full group participation).
Curricular Standards and Major Concepts:
2.Ý Language Arts - writing and looking up words unfamiliar to them, presentation of information found
Possible Extension:
2.Ý The students will create a photo album representing their experiences and findings on the trip.
