Brainstorming
Goals:
After reading and examining the primary resources, the students will be able to identify the emotions they felt and which of the five senses were used.
Materials:
three primary resources (authentic journal entry, photo, and song)
journals
yarn
construction paper
loose leaf paper
Procedure: (3 hours)
2. The students will make a journal with loose leaf paper to write on and construction paper as the cover. They will decorate as they wish, but it must relate to the Titanic.
3. Explain the three primary resources activity. The students must examine a photo, journal entry, and song from the Titanic.
4. Divide class into groups of 4-6 students.
5. Have the students list emotions they felt while looking at the artifacts and with which of the five senses they experienced it with.
6. Regroup and discuss each of the individual groups' findings.
7. The students will create a concept map on the wall. This will include ideas from both the brainstorming and primary resources activity. The concept map will be constructed by webbing/connecting each idea (use construction paper for each idea/thought and yarn to connect all ideas/thoughts together).
