Welcome to COSEE-Pacific Partnerships!
COSEE Pacific Partnerships is a regional collaboration among members of the Western Association of Marine Laboratories, Pacific community colleges, and informal science education institutions. The primary goal of the collaboration is to integrate marine research and education for audiences that traditionally have had limited access to an understanding of the ocean. The project will develop five partnerships based at marine labs (see list at right). Each marine lab will partner with one or more community colleges and informal science education institutions to undertake a series of actions to promote ocean education.

NEW! Outreach & Research Experience for Teachers (ORET) Program

COSEE Pacific Partnerships is offering two opportunities through the Outreach & Research Experience for Teachers (ORET) Program to community college science faculty interested in developing research skills and ocean content knowledge through hands-on experience working with marine scientist mentors at the Center’s marine labs. Participants will translate and incorporate this research into their teaching. The program runs from June 23rd to August 18th, 2008. Participants will receive an $8,000 stipend and housing on-site will be provided.

COSEE Pacific Partnerships is offering five internship opportunities to community college students interested in developing research and outreach skills through hands-on experience working with marine scientists and marine informal educators. The program runs from June 23rd to August 18th, 2008. Interns will receive a $2,000 stipend, and housing on-site will be provided.
