1.   When he was discovered dead, Mr. Sailey had a bullet hole in his thigh and a knife wound in his back.

2.   Mr. Cruiser shot at an intruder in his cabin at 12:00 midnight.

3.   The night watchman reported to the ship Captain that he saw Mr. Sailey at 12:15 a.m.

4.   The bullet taken from Mr. Sailey’s thigh matched the gun owned by Mr. Cruiser.

5.   Only one bullet had been fired from Mr. Cruiser's gun.
 
6.   When the night watchman saw Mr. Sailey, Mr. Sailey was bleeding slightly but did not seem badly hurt.

7.  A knife with Mr. Sailey’s blood on it was found in Miss Yaughtman’s cabin at 11:30 p.m. The knife found in Miss
   Yaughtman’s cabin had Mr. Oceanton’s fingerprints on it.

8.  Mr. Sailey had destroyed Mr. Cruiser's business by stealing all his customers.

9.  The night watchman saw Mr. Sailey’s wife go to Mr. Oceanton’s cabin at 11:30 p.m. The night watchman said that
    Mr. Sailey’s wife frequently left the cabin area with Mr. Oceanton.

10. Mr. Sailey’s body was found on the promenade deck at 1:30 a.m. Mr. Sailey had been dead for one hour when his
    body was found, according to the ship's doctor.

11. The night watchman saw Mr. Sailey go to Mr. Oceanton’s cabin at 12:25 a.m. The night watchman went off duty at
    12:30 a.m.

12. It was obvious from the condition of Mr. Sailey’s body that it had been dragged a long distance.

13. Miss Yaughtman saw Mr. Sailey go to Mr. Cruiser's cabin at 11:55 p.m.

14. Mr. Sailey’s wife disappeared after the murder.

15. The night watchman said that Miss Yaughtman was in the cabin area when he went off duty.

16. Miss Yaughtman often followed Mr. Sailey.

17. Mr. Cruiser had told Mr. Sailey that he was going to kill him.

18. Miss Yaughtman said that nobody left the cabin area between 12:25 a.m. and 12:45 a.m.

19. Mr. Sailey’s blood stains were found in Mr. Oceanton’s cabin.

20. Mr. Sailey’s blood stains were found on the carpet in the hall outside Mr. Cruiser's cabin.
 

ANSWER: After receiving a superficial gunshot wound from Mr. Cruiser, Mr. Sailey went to Mr. Oceanton’s cabin where he was killed by Mr. Oceanton with a knife at 12:30 a.m., because Mr. Oceanton was in love with Mr. Sailey’s wife.
