Goals:
To work cooperatively with other students to develop a creative presentation of a pirate.
Content Areas:
Social Studies - using research about a pirate to develop a presentation
Language Arts - creating a presentation which utilizes oral communication and at least one visual aid
Materials:
Art supplies to create flags and visual aids
Paper/pencil
Procedure: (2 hours preparation, 2 hours for presentations)
2) After completion of the flag, each group may begin to develop their presentation, utilizing the research they collected during the last lesson. Each presentation must include some visual aid besides the pirate flag. Remind students that their presentations will be graded on creativity and originality.
3) Provide students with the time and a quiet place to practice their presentations which will be given the following morning.
4) The next morning, students will present their information on a specific pirate. This section of the lesson should take approximately 2 hours, which allows about fifteen minutes per group presentation.
5) After each group presents, the rest of the class will be required to fill out the evaluation form found under the assessment portion of this lesson.
