Procedure:
2. Next, put photography websites on the board for the students to investigate on the internet. Ask them to find things about different types of photography - commercial, travel, personal, sports, scenic, music. Also ask them to find information on cameras and film. Ask the students to find and write down what characterizes some of the commericial photography logos and what makes them attractive. Students are to write down information in their notebooks. 20-30 minutes.
3. Bring the class back together and share ideas by either putting them on the board or just discussing them. "What type of photography would you like to shoot if you went to the Caribbean?" "What sorts of things would you want to shoot?" "What sorts of things attract people to go to the Carbbean?" Explain to the students that pretty and attractive pictures are what excite people to go to the Caribbean and encourage tourism.
4. Explain to the students that they will now go outside to take pictures of attractive things (ideally things that would attract people such as scenic shots and nature pictures). Assign groups of students to share camera(s) to take 2 pictures each of something outside that would attract people to come to the area. Chaperone students outside while they are taking pictures. Encourage students to think about the things that they have written down that get people's attention and are appealing to the eye. 25-30 minutes.
5. Bring the class back together in the classroom. Explain to the students that they now will prepare an individual commercial advertisement for their own photography company. Using markers, construction paper, and scissors, the students should make an advertisement for their own photography company coming up with an original name for it and they should also use the pictures they took outside in their advertisement by taping them to the advertisement. Encourage students to be creative and use ideas they got from the slide show and internet search to make their advertisements as attractive as possible. 25-30 minutes. Use any remaining time for students to share their advertisements with their classmates and then put them up around the classroom.
