Day 5

Goals:

1. Students will learn new knowledge, or reinforce what they previously know, about coral reefs through a new medium - slides.

2. Visual learners will process new information about the coral reefs in an understandable manner.

Time:

one hour

Resources/Materials:

film projector, screen, slides on coral reefs from school's media resource center or see following internet address for other pictures:

Procedure:

1. The teacher will introduce the slides as an aesthetic activity as a way to provide an appreciation of the beauty of coral reefs.

2. The teacher will talk about the various slides as he/she shows them as a reinforcement of what they have just learned about the coral reefs.

3. The teacher will give the students ample opportunities to ask questions about the slides and the teacher and students can give immediate responses

Assessment:

Cooperation in activity.

Possible Extensions:

Students could bring in pictures that they have on coral reefs to share with the class.
