Volcano - Version 2 (larger)

Materials:

bottle (the 296-355 ml glass or plastic ones that contain soda or juice work well)

baking soda

funnel

vinegar

cup

red food coloring

spoon

large, shallow container (such as a plastic dishpan or a disposable aluminum baking pan)

Procedure:

1. Put the funnel in the mouth of the bottle. Pour the baking soda into the funnel until the bottle is about half full.

2. Pour vinegar into the cup. The amount of vinegar in the cup should be about the same as the amount of baking soda in the bottle.

3. Add a few drops of red food coloring to the vinegar and stir with the spoon. Add a few more drops, if needed, to make the vinegar bright red in color.

4. When ready, put the funnel in the mouth of the bottle, pour in the vinegar, and immediately remove the funnel.
