Observation Rubric
Guidelines
Each individual desk is designated as an individual student. (This doesn't mean that students have to be in this seating order. In fact it is preferable to have them working in groups at tables. ). Observations will be written on each desk with the student's initials. Students will be assessed by the following criteria:
Participation (Listening and Speaking)
4 The student demonstrates constant participation in the activity or discussion.
3 The student partakes in most of the activity or discussion.
2 The student takes little part in the activity or discussion.
1 The student does not take part in the activity or discussion.
Consideration
4 The student is constantly considerate of other students and groups.
3 The student is considerate of other students and groups most of the time.
2 The student is considerate of other students and groups some of the time.
1 The student is disruptive of other students and groups.
***Note These observation guidelines should be shared with the students so that they know what is expected of them.
****Each individual student will be kept in mind during the observations, and it will be assessed if each student fills the criteria according to the best of his/her ability. The students will not be compared with one another.
